Many foreign language speakers live in The Netherlands. Fortunately, nearly every Dutch person can speak some English. In spite of this, many foreign language speakers feel they would like to know some Dutch.
The motivation for this differs. For some people, it is necessary for their work. Others want to become a part of the Dutch community or feel confident of their Dutch conversation skills. Many feel it is a basic courtesy to speak the language of the host country.
This is how one of our students puts it:
Don't believe the old claim that 'learning Dutch is pointless, as everyone speaks English anyway'; if you're resident in Holland for any length of time, a course with Mercuur Taal can make a serious difference to your appreciation and enjoyment of the country. I highly recommend it.
